UPDATE: Bell Peppers

June 15, 2016

The West Coast bell pepper market will remain active over the next two weeks. Green bell pepper prices are elevated while red bell peppers prices will rise through the end of June. High temperatures in California’s Southern San Joaquin Valley and Imperial Desert will continue to reduce crop yields over the next week, limiting overall supplies and keeping markets elevated. East Coast supplies are ample. Production in Georgia will continue through late June while areas in North Carolina and Tennessee begin their summer harvests.

  • Supplies will increase in Bakersfield, California by June 27; markets will ease by early July
  • Harvesting will ramp up in Fresno, Gilroy, and Oxnard over the next two weeks
  • Warm temperatures will limit plant growth in California’s Southern San Joaquin Valley over the next five days; extra-large and large size peppers will tighten
