Sun Orchard has experienced an incredible surge in demand over the last four weeks, as the foodservice industry begins to bounce back. Unfortunately, the industry has been unable to give the supply community the projections/advance notice to help plan for this surge of increased demand and the supplies needed to meet it. Based on the current outlook and increased raw product demand for both fruit and packaging, Sun Orchard will have some intermittent service challenges over the next eight weeks.

• Suppliers have struggled to forecast raw product and packaging needs    
  • Factors impacting the supply chain:
    • Weather challenges in major growing areas
    • Reduced processing capacity
    • Shortages of packaging materials such as boxes, bags, bottles, lids, etc.
    • Delays with inbound logistics
    • Reduced labor force
• Continual changes across North America include:
  • COVID restrictions
  • Vaccinations ramping up and down daily
  • A rush of customers excited about dining out again are challenging raw product volume, finished product, and packaging across North America
