UPDATE: TOMATOES
February 04, 2021
Round tomato prices are easing due to increasing supplies in Florida and Mexico. The grape tomato market is much lower as well; yields are rising. Florida growers are back in production, while the Mexican season is in full swing.
-
Florida cherry, grape, Roma, and round tomato stocks are reaching normal volume levels for the winter season
- Demand is weak; prices are inching down
- Quality is very good
- This week’s cold front (with temperatures below freezing) may cause bloom drop and push up markets in the weeks ahead
-
Mexico is the primary growing region at this time
- Production is in full swing for the grape, Roma, and round varieties
- Grape tomatoes are abundant; prices have fallen
- Sunny, warm weather has increased growth and improved quality
- Expect good volume in all varieties over the next three to four weeks
