UPDATE: BELL PEPPERS

Red bell pepper prices are rising; production is transitioning from California to Mexico. Green bell pepper prices are inching up as cooler weather slows harvesting in both Mexico and Florida.
Green Bells
- The winter season out of Mexico (crossing into Nogales, Arizona and South Texas) is in full swing

Cold weather has resulted in lower volume in the primary growing regions of Culiacan, Sinaloa and Immokalee, Florida; supplies are limited
- Florida will receive rain through Monday, further reducing supplies
- Extra-large and large sizes are tightening
- Choice grade stocks are more readily available
- The market is expected to inch up this week and remain active heading into next week
Red Bells
- The California desert season is winding down; supplies are tightening

Mexican harvesting has been behind schedule due to consistently cold weather early in the growing season
- Tight supplies are trickling into Nogales, Arizona and South Texas
- Expect increased stocks towards the end of December
- Florida volume is extremely low
- Expect active prices over the next several weeks until new crop supplies ramp up
