The California Navel orange season is in full swing; supplies are ample. Quality is excellent. Lemons are ramping up in the San Joaquin Valley growing region, while the Arizona/California desert growing region is winding down.

Navel Oranges

• The crop is dominated by 72-, 88-, and 113-count sizes
• Cool nights are helping deepen color, reducing gas times to 48 hours and less
• Sugar levels are currently 11.5 to 12 Brix

Lemons

• The crop is dominated by 115- and 140-count sizes
• Expect to see markets inch up as the Arizona/California desert growing region wraps up
• Fancy grade fruit is starting to outweigh choice grade stocks
• Quality is excellent
