Prices will remain elevated for several more weeks. Florida yields will be low through February as rain continues to fall almost daily. Supplies will continue to increase from Mexico, but strong demand will keep markets strong.

Florida

• Cool temperatures, high winds, and rain are forecast through much of next week
• Harvesting will be erratic as growers dodge showers and fruit struggles to mature
• Plants are damaged from continued weather issues; high winds are causing bloom drop which will prolong shortages
• Growers are sorting out bad quality, further reducing yields
• Expect tight supplies through February when production is forecast to increase

Mexico

• Supplies will continue to increase next week, but prices will remain at elevated levels
• Tight East Coast stocks are moving demand to Mexican fruit
• Storm activity in December and January pushed back production; peak harvesting levels won’t be reached until mid-February
• Prices that decreased recently, including cherry, grape, and Roma varieties, will be higher next week due to a shorter production period and strong demand
• Quality is excellent; order early for best color
