California strawberry growers continue to work through quality issues related to the recent heatwave. Quality and small size are expected to be challenges for the next seven days.  

• Markon First Crop Strawberries are available in both plastic and recyclable cardboard clamshells
• Strawberries are maturing/coloring before they reach full size due to recent high heat, resulting in smaller berries
• Potential quality challenges include softness, decay, and sunburn (see attached photos)
• Cold-chain management remains a vital component in maximizing shelf-life
