FROM THE FIELDS: Persistent Lettuce Ice in the Desert Growing Region

December 31, 2015

For the fifth consecutive day, lettuce ice will delay harvesting up to four hours in the desert growing regions, as well as create shipping delays. The current forecast calls for strong winds (in the low to mid-40 MPH range) that will cause excess dirt is some finished packs.

A new weather system will begin moving through the growing region, bringing cloud cover and slightly warmer morning temperatures, however rain is forecast for Monday, January 4. Markon Inspectors will continue to closely monitor quality and report harvesting delays due to muddy field conditions.
