Markon First Crop (MFC) Onions are readily available.

• Storage crop MFC Onions from the Northwest will remain on the market into early May
• Expect diminishing quality in storage shipments as the season wraps up
  • Onions have golden, cured skins, but may be softer than early and mid-season stocks
  • Problems may include occasional internal decay, mold, and multiple centers/hearts
• The California onion season has started; fresh-run onions have feathery skins and light color when compared to Northwest storage onions
• Texas-grown, fresh-run MFC Onions are being shipped
• New Mexican onions will enter the market the week of May 11
• Initial new crop onion prices are higher than those for storage crop, but it is expected to be short-lived as supply exceeds demand
