Prices will rise next week. Florida supplies are tightening; growers will not harvest new fields in Immokalee for another 10 to 14 days. Limited quantities from Culiacan, Mexico have started arriving into Nogales, Arizona and South Texas, but volume is not high enough to impact market prices. A few growers in Baja continue to harvest, but late-season quality is reducing yields to minimum levels. Expect high prices until January when harvesting increases in Florida and Mexico.

Mature Green Tomatoes

• Fall crops finished two weeks ahead of schedule as a result of elevated temperatures in November
• Subsequent rain is reducing yields; quality issues may include blemishes, cracking, decay at the blossom end, and uneven color
• Growers are evaluating fields on a day to day basis
• Daily showers and cloudy conditions are preventing new crops from maturing
• Mexican mature green stocks will become available in Nogales, Arizona by late December/early January

Roma and Vine Ripe Tomatoes

• Stocks from Culiacan, Mexico (into Nogales and South Texas) are usually sufficient by this time of year, but active storms in mainland Mexico during the planting phase pushed back harvesting schedules by two to three weeks
• Growers are struggling to meet demand out of depleted fall fields in Baja and Central Mexico
• Cherry and grape tomato supplies are also limited
• Overall stocks will remain limited through the month of December
