Bell Peppers, Cucumbers, and Squash

Volume is lower compared to the last several weeks
- Stored inventories have been sold
- Production has slowed due to weak foodservice and retail demand
- Expect volatile markets for the next few weeks due to COVID-19
Broccoli, Cauliflower, Green Leaf, Iceberg, and Romaine
- Rainfall earlier this week has decreased daily harvestable yields in California’s Central and Salinas Valleys
- Growers experienced delays due to wet/muddy fields; crews took measures to minimize dirt/mud in finished packs
- Some suppliers were forced to cancel harvests entirely
- Expect prices to continue inching up through this week, then level off next week as favorable weather is in the forecast
Onions
- Storage crop Markon First Crop (MFC) Onions from the Northwest will remain on the market through April

Expect diminishing quality in storage shipments as the season wraps up
- Onions will have golden, cured skins, but may be softer than early and mid-season stocks
- Problems may include occasional internal decay, mold, and multiple centers/hearts
- Texas-grown, fresh-run MFC Onions are being shipped; fresh-run onions will have feathery skins and light color when compared to Northwest storage onions
- The MFC California onion season will begin April 27
Potatoes
- Idaho 40- to 80-count cartons are abundant
- Storage crop quality is very good, but pressure bruising and hollow heart have been sporadic in large sizes (40- to 80-count potatoes)

5/10-pound, 10/5-pound, and 6/8-pound retail bales are available
- Non A-size packs are tighter
- Jumbo 10-ounce minimum supplies are being substituted
- New crop harvesting is estimated to begin August 3
