UPDATE: ONIONS

Supplies of Markon First Crop (MFC) Onions are readily available. Prices are easing.

• Storage crop MFC Onions from the Northwest will remain on the market through April
• Expect diminishing quality in storage shipments as the season wraps up
  • Onions will have golden, cured skins, but may be softer than early and mid-season stocks
  • Problems may include occasional internal decay, mold, and multiple centers/hearts (photos attached)
• Texas-grown, fresh-run MFC Onions are being shipped; fresh-run onions will have feathery skins and light color when compared to Northwest storage onions (photos attached)
• The MFC California onion season will begin April 27
• MFC Onions from New Mexico will start shipping May 18
