Broccoli and Cauliflower
- Stocks are tightening in the Arizona/California desert region as growers begin the seasonal transition north to the Salinas Valley
- Broccoli crossings into McAllen, Texas are down, but will stabilize in the next few weeks as new crop Mexican supplies ramp up
- Broccoli and cauliflower markets will rise as rain is in the forecast across Arizona and California growing regions this week
Lettuce and Leafy Greens
- Rain is minimizing harvesting hours and limiting supplies in the Arizona/California desert region
- Supplies will return to ample levels late next week once weather reverts back to ideal harvesting conditions; prices will ease
- Growers will start transitioning production from the Arizona/California desert region north to the San Joaquin Valley and Salinas Valley regions in the coming weeks
Strawberries
- Santa Maria received as much as one inch of rain this week
- The Florida season is expected to conclude the week of March 23
- Mexican berries will remain limited; quality will be erratic
