The Arizona/California desert growing regions are forecast to receive rainfall starting this evening and continuing through most of Saturday, February 22. Between .5” and 1.00” of rain is expected. Monday orders will be packed today to ensure coverage. Muddy conditions will cause production delays over the next several days.

Markon inspectors will be monitoring commodity and value-added lettuce and tender leaf items closely for any of the following rain-related issues in the days ahead:

• Elevated dirt/mud in finished packs
• Increased mildew pressure
• Premature pinking in shreds and salads
• Shortened shelf-life potential
