UPDATE: Tomato Prices
January 16, 2020
Round tomato prices are inching down; as expected, the market has peaked. Prices will continue to ease through the end of the month.
-
New crop Mexican tomatoes (into Nogales, Arizona and McAllen, Texas) are increasing
- Roma and grape tomato supplies are sufficient; prices are lower
- Round tomato stocks are becoming more plentiful; however, prices remain high for large sizes
- Quality is fair: Mexican fruit is light in color as growers are harvesting vines early to hit high markets
- Florida volume is slowly rising; West Coast demand is keeping availability tight (especially large sizes)
- Expect improved availability and lower prices
