UPDATE: Idaho Potato - Cold Weather Forecast
January 13, 2020
Cold weather is expected in Idaho this week. Temperatures must be above 18 degrees F for potatoes being hauled from storage cellars to packing sheds without freezing. Suppliers will try to utilize their onsite storage stocks, but additional delays are expected this week due to already limited supplies.
- Internal black spotting and bruising can occur when raw product is hauled at low temperatures
- High winds, drifting snow, and slick pavements are causing highway closures
- Hazardous road conditions will affect both inbound and outbound trucks
