Unseasonably low temperatures coupled with rain and moderate-to-severe lettuce ice have decreased iceberg weights. Iceberg 24-count Palletized Liner weights have dropped to 36-42 pounds, with some fields reporting weights as low as 25 pounds by suppliers in the Arizona/California desert growing region. Markon First Crop Iceberg Lettuce is not available in 24-count palletized packs. 

 

Lettuce ice is expected over the next several days, as temperatures drop into the low 30s. It’s unlikely lettuce weights will increase over the next 10 days. Markon Inspectors are working with suppliers to find the best available fields.
