FROM THE FIELDS: More Lettuce Ice in the Desert Growing Region

December 19, 2019
For the third consecutive day temperatures dropped into the low 30s causing widespread lettuce ice in the California and Arizona desert growing regions. Harvesting delays of up to three hours are being reported as crews wait for the crops to thaw sufficiently.

Temperatures will warm slightly into the weekend, but light-to-moderate lettuce ice will still be likely in colder areas.
