Hurricane Patricia made landfall in Southwestern Mexico on Friday evening and was downgraded to a tropical depression by late Saturday afternoon. Leftover moisture combined with another storm from the Gulf of Mexico, bringing heavy rain into Texas and nearby states.

• Growers in the path of heavy weekend rains in Mexico and Texas continue to evaluate fields, but crop damage is being reported as minimal
• Wet field conditions are interrupting harvesting schedules
• Expect fewer supplies and higher prices this week for most items loading in South Texas, including bell peppers, blackberries, cabbage, carrots, chile peppers, cilantro, citrus (grapefruit, limes, and oranges), cucumbers, pineapples, raspberries, and tomatoes
• Volume should return to typical levels by early next week
• Damage to young plants in the Jalisco, Mexico growing region (especially chile peppers and melons) could result in shortages and elevated prices in December and January
