UPDATE: Idaho Potatoes
June 28, 2019
Recent frost events, coupled with unseasonably cold weather, are slowing the maturity of this year’s Idaho potato crop.
-
Most potato growers expect the 2019/2020 crop profile to be comparable to this past season
- Expect the new crop to be dominated by smaller sizes (80-, 90-, and 100-count stocks)
- Supplies of 40-, 50-, 60-, and 70-count potatoes will be limited
- The warming trend that is forecast over the next several weeks will increase size; however, it’s still too early in the growing season to understand the extent of damage caused by the frost
