UPDATE: Limited Lime Supplies
March 05, 2019
Mexican lime shipments into the U.S. are below normal levels; supplies are extremely limited. Prices are escalating.
- Current rain and cold weather slowed production in the growing region of Veracruz, Mexico, further depleting volume
- Imports into the U.S. will fall in the coming weeks; expect tight supplies and elevated prices through the month
- Large sizes (110- and 150-count fruit) dominate available stocks; flexibility in size and grade may be needed to fill orders
- Rain-related quality issues such as oil spotting and stylar end breakdown are concerns
