FROM THE FIELDS: Iceberg Lettuce Weights

Markon First Crop (MFC) Premium Iceberg Lettuce is limited. Low temperatures, rain, and overcast days have slowed iceberg lettuce growth, resulting in smaller size and puffy heads. Even after harvesting crews sort the small sizes, case weights for 24-count liner lettuce are below normal throughout the industry, ranging from 37-42 pounds.
Markon inspectors are working with growers to secure the best fields and highest weights, but MFC Premium Lettuce is expected to be limited over the next several weeks.
