Markon First Crop Idaho Burbank Potatoes will be available through August 30. New crop, field-run Norkotahs will enter the market on August 1.

Storage Crop

• Burbank potato quality is good.
  • Pressure bruising is more prevalent at this point in the season
  • Hollow heart is sporadic
• Size profile is fairly even
• 40- and 100-count potatoes are more readily available than in recent weeks
• 50- through 90-count supplies are tighter
• Prices are expected to remain steady through the rest of the storage season

New Crop Norkotahs and Burbanks

• New crop Norkotah harvesting and packing will begin in a limited manner on August 1; most Idaho sheds will fully transition to new crop Norkotahs the week of August 13
• New crop Burbank production will start in late September/early October

White Russets

• Storage crop White Russets will be available through August 7
• New crop harvesting will begin in early October
• New crop White Russets will be available to load by November 12; this variety must go through a 28-day sweat process before shipment
