Prices are rising. Lemon supplies are limited and will continue to tighten over the next five to seven weeks. Domestic California coastal volume has dropped significantly due to higher-than-normal temperatures. Offshore fruit availability is limited due to strong Pacific Rim demand. Substituting sizes, grades, and country of origin will aid in order coverage.

• Markon First Crop and Markon Essentials Lemons are limited; packer label is being substituted as needed
• Sunkist, a major supplier in the California coastal region, has declared a “Force Majeure” (Act of God) on current 2018 contracts
• High temperatures in California’s coastal growing region have affected quality, shortening the season
  • Ripe lemons and blooms for next season have dropped from the trees
  • Shelf-life is shorter due to abnormally hot growing conditions during the summer months  
  • Order lead-time is highly encouraged
• Prices will continue to climb each week for the next five to seven weeks
  • Limited quantities of Chilean and Argentine lemons are available
    • Prices are higher
    • Palletization is subject to change
  • Sporadic supplies of standard grade Mexican-grown lemons are available in South Texas; supplies will ramp up in early to mid-August
