UPDATE: Bell Peppers

Green bell pepper prices are rising; supplies are light across the country. Expect elevated markets for two weeks. Red bell pepper prices will begin to ease next week as new crop production in California is ramping up.

West Coast

  • Markon First Crop (MFC) and Markon Essentials (ESS) Green and Red Bell Peppers are available
  • Green bell pepper harvests are transitioning from Bakersfield to Fresno, California
    • Limited supplies on the East Coast have shifted demand to the West Coast
    • Prices are rising, but availability remains adequate
    • Expect elevated markets for two more weeks
  • Red bell pepper stocks are ramping up in Bakersfield
  • Demand is strong; prices remain elevated
  • Supplies are increasing week over week
  • Prices will begin to ease next week

East Coast

  • MFC and ESS Green Bell Peppers are not available; packer label supplies are being substituted as needed
  • The Georgia season has ended
    • North Carolina is the primary growing region
    • Michigan harvests are getting started in a very limited capacity
  • Overall availability is fairly tight; supplies will remain limited until the Michigan crop ramps up in two weeks (MFC Bell Peppers will be available at that time)
  • Mexican supplies (crossing into South Texas) are very limited this time of year
  • Expect higher prices on the East Coast for the next few weeks
