Markon is closely monitoring a public health advisory form the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) regarding an increase in Cyclospora infections that appear to be connected to consumption of McDonald’s salads. This week IDPH has identified 15 Iowans who ate McDonald’s salads in June to early July prior to becoming ill. Consumers who ate McDonald’s salads since the middle of June and who are exhibiting symptoms of cylosporiasis should see their health care provider. The Illinois Department of Public Health has noted a similar increase in cases associated with the product.

What We Know:

• 15 illnesses have been linked to consumption of McDonald’s salads
• Ill people reported eating salads in late June to early July prior to becoming ill
  • Consumers who ate salads since the middle of June and have symptoms of cyclosporiasis should seek medical attention
• McDonald’s is fully cooperating with IDPH, the Illinois Department of Public Health and involved federal partners
• This investigation is ongoing
  • As of this time, information on manufacturer(s) of the McDonald’s salads is not available
