Ample fresh-run supplies of Markon First Crop (MFC) Red and Yellow Onions are available in California and Texas. The New Mexico onion season will get underway next week.  

Washington

• MFC Yellow Onions will remain available through the end of May, however red onion shipments will end next week  
• Remaining storage stocks are small in size (dominated by medium and jumbo sizes)
• Expect diminishing quality in the remaining storage shipments
  • Onions will have golden, cured skins, but may be softer than early and mid-season stocks
  • Problems may include occasional internal decay, mold, and multiple centers/hearts (photos attached)

California

• Fresh-run MFC Red and Yellow Onions are readily available
• Packer label white onions are also being shipped
• Fresh-run onions will have feathery skins and light color/exterior skins compared to Northwest storage onions (photos attached) 

South Texas

• Texas-grown, fresh-run MFC Onions will be on the market through late May   
• Good supplies of all colors and sizes are available  
• Jumbo yellow No. 2 onions are not available in Texas due to a federal marketing order

New Mexico

• Limited supplies of packer label fresh-run red and yellow onions will hit the market next week
• MFC Red and Yellow Onions will be available the week of May 28
