UPDATE: Onions

Markon First Crop (MFC) Red, White, and Yellow Onions are readily available in the Northwest. Texas-grown MFC Red, White, and Yellow Onions will enter the market the week of March 26. Fresh-run Mexican onions, crossing into South Texas, are also being shipped.
Idaho, Oregon, Utah, and Washington
- Idaho, Oregon and Washington MFC Red, White, and Yellow Onions will be on the market through early May
- Utah supplies of MFC Red, White, and Yellow Onions will begin to wind down in mid-April

Expect lower quality in storage shipments as the season wraps up
- Onions will have golden, cured skins, but may be softer than usual and/or exhibit double-centered cores
- Occasional detection of internal decay and mold are also anticipated at this time of the year

Colorado
- The Colorado season will be coming to an end this week
South Texas
- Red, white, and yellow crops are dominated by small sizes (medium and jumbo onions)
- Mexican onions are firm, with occasional mechanical bruising and scarring from harvesting equipment
- Fresh-run onions will have feathery skins and light color/exterior skins compared to Northwest storage onions (pictures are attached)
- Jumbo yellow No. 2 onions are not available in Texas due to a federal marketing order
California
- MFC Red, White, and Yellow Onions will become available the last week of April
- The region is experiencing ideal weather conditions; crop growth is ahead of schedule
New Mexico
- MFC Red, White, and Yellow Onions are forecast to hit the market in early May
