Markon First Crop Strawberries are not available; Markon Best Available is being substituted. Unseasonably warm temperatures and higher-than-normal humidity will affect growing conditions and decrease shelf-life. Cooler temperatures are expected mid-week, but this will be short lived, as another warming trend is forecast for the weekend. Many growers are diverting fruit to juice and/or frozen processors. Maintaining the cold chain will be critical during the summer months. Markon recommends ordering for quick turns.

• Bruising, light decay, mold, and soft texture are issues
• Harvesting crews are heavily culling fields due to poor quality
• Berry size is small to medium; stemmed strawberries are limited
• Color is red to dark red
• Prices have been stable, but will increase due to tighter supplies of high-quality fruit
