FOOD SAFETY UPDATE: Multistate Salmonella Outbreak linked to Cut Fruit

The Washington State Department of Health announced that 18 people in Washington and Oregon have been diagnosed with Salmonella linked to consumption of pre-cut fruit containing watermelon or cantaloupe purchased between October 25th and December 1st from retail establishments in both Washington and Oregon.
What we know:

Washington state health officials say a Salmonella outbreak involving pre-cut fruit sold has sickened 18 people
- 16 people in Washington and two in Oregon
- Implicated retail establishments including QFC, Fred Meyer, Rosauers and Central Market
- Implicated pre-cut watermelon, cantaloupe, or fruit mixes containing watermelon or cantaloupe were purchased between from around Oct. 25 to Dec. 1
- This investigation is ongoing
