UPDATE: Tomatoes

Tomato prices continue to escalate. The California season will end this week; Florida supplies remain limited.
- Production in the Central Florida areas of Palmetto and Ruskin is increasing; although growing conditions are improving, prices remain in a demand-exceeds-supply scenario
- Mature green volume will remain behind seasonal norms for the next four weeks due to the severe impact of Hurricane Irma
- Mexican vine ripe supplies will increase in early to mid-December, easing elevated markets
- Mexican Roma stocks are sufficient; stronger demand could push prices higher as the Roma variety will be used to supplement round tomato shortages
- Florida’s grape and cherry tomato volume remains extremely low; cold weather and holiday demand will push prices to extreme levels
