UPDATE: Fall 2017 Harvesting Transition

The fall iceberg transition from the Salinas Valley to Huron, California (the San Joaquin Valley region) is underway. Most green leaf and romaine growers will continue harvesting in Salinas until the industry makes the full transition to Yuma, Arizona over the next three to four weeks.
Below are approximate transition dates (subject to change):
Week of October 30
- Higher quantities of Markon First Crop (MFC) Premium Iceberg will be harvested in Huron
- Limited amounts of MFC Premium Iceberg will be shipped from Salinas
- Transfers from Huron to Salinas will remain available
- MFC Premium Green Leaf and Romaine production will continue in Salinas
- Small quantities of packer label iceberg will be harvested in Yuma
Week of November 6
- Limited quantities of packer label green leaf, iceberg, and romaine will be available in Yuma
- MFC Premium Iceberg will remain available in Huron; light shipments will start in Yuma
- MFC Premium Green Leaf and Romaine will continue to be harvested in Salinas
- Transfers to Salinas from Yuma and Huron will be available
Week of November 13
- MFC Premium Green Leaf, Iceberg, and Romaine will be available in Yuma
- MFC Premium Iceberg will remain available in Huron
- Limited supplies of MFC Premium Green Leaf and Romaine will continue to be harvested in Salinas
- Transfers to Salinas from Yuma and Huron will be available
Week of November 20
- Processors of Ready-Set-Serve (RSS) Salads, RSS Washed & Trimmed items, and cello-wrapped products are scheduled to begin processing and loading in Yuma

Markon commodity and processed items will be harvested and loaded out of the Arizona/California desert growing region as well
- MFC Premium Iceberg harvested in Huron will remain an option
- MFC Premium Green Leaf and Romaine will continue to be harvested in Salinas
