UPDATE: Avocados

Avocado prices are rising; supplies are limited, especially No. 2 grade fruit. Expect elevated markets until Mexico’s fall crop starts in late September.
- 2017 California crop volume was lower than normal; the season is wrapping up quickly
- The Peruvian import season is nearly finished

Growers in Mexico have transitioned to the summer crop (Flora Loca bloom) which has the lowest volume of the year
- Supplies are mainly No. 1 grade; No. 2s are scarce
- Size structure is favoring small sizes (60-count and smaller); large sizes are diminishing (48-count and larger)
- Fruit is taking longer to ripen due to a lower maturity level (normal for this time of year)
- Availability will be limited for the next 8-10 weeks; prices will remain high through September
