UPDATE: Limes
July 11, 2017
The lime market will rise over the next two weeks due to heavy precipitation in the main growing region of Veracruz, Mexico.
- Rainy weather, followed by warm temperatures, will increase stylar/end breakdown (a disease affecting the opposite end of the stem, appearing as a discolored, water-soaked spot)
- Growers are sorting through additional raw product to meet demand
- Small sizes (200- to 250-count fruit) will be limited; large sizes (110- to 150-count limes) will be more readily available
- Elevated prices are predicted for the next three weeks
