UPDATE: Oranges

Markon First Crop and Markon Essentials Valencia Oranges are sporadic; packer label supplies are being substituted as needed. The market continues to rise. Prices are climbing due to extremely low volume this season.
- Many growers have harvested 50% or more of their 2017 Valencia crop
- Limited harvesting and packing due to the holiday has reduced availability this week
- 72-hour lead time is highly encouraged through September due to tight supplies and reduced packing hours
- Arrivals of offshore oranges to the East and West Coasts are increasing

Offshore oranges from Australia, Chile, Morocco, South Africa, and Uruguay will be necessary to meet summer and fall demand
- Chilean Navels are available for loading on the West Coast; limited quantities of Moroccan Valencias are on the East Coast market
- Imports are dominated by 88-count and larger sizes and fancy grade; fruit will have PLU stickers
- Prices are higher than those for domestic Valencias
