Asparagus

• Markon First Crop (MFC) Asparagus will be available from Mexico
• Domestic and Peruvian supplies are tightening
• Mexico production will not cover the shortage of domestic and Peruvian stocks
• The market will climb next week and remain elevated for the next two to three weeks

Celery

• MFC Celery is available in Salinas
• High temperatures in the Salinas Valley have decreased yields
• Michigan and Eastern Canada will start production in early to mid-July
• Prices are increasing; expect Ready-Set-Serve Celery to meet trigger levels next week

Idaho Potatoes

• MFC Idaho Burbank Potatoes are available; new crop, field-run MFC Norkotahs will be available in early to mid-August
• Storage crop size is mainly small; quality is good, but will weaken as the season nears the end
• Storage crop White Russets will be available through September 1; new crop stocks will be hit the market October 30
• Prices will remain steady over the next week

Onions

• MFC Red, White, and Yellow Jumbo and Medium Onions are readily available
• Extremely high temperatures will reduce onion size, quality, and volume in California and New Mexico
• MFC Yellow Super Colossal and Colossal Onions will incur the most heat-related damage
• Prices will climb next week and remain elevated as the hot weather persists

Oranges

• MFC and Markon Essentials Valencia Oranges are sporadic; packer label supplies are being substituted as needed
• Offshore oranges will be necessary to meet summer and fall demand; imported Valencia prices are slightly higher than those for domestic supplies
• Both domestic and imported orange crops are dominated by fancy grade fruit
• Prices are elevated and will continue to strengthen through the summer months
