Markon First Crop Washington D’Anjou Pears will be available through the second week of July. The new crop packer label California Bartlett season will begin the week of July 10.

Washington

• Quality of remaining supplies is excellent  
• Stocks are dominated by large fruit (80- and 100-count sizes)
• Smaller pears (110- and 135-count sizes) are very limited

California

• Direct loading will be available in Lodi, Finley, and Exeter, California
• Product can also be consolidated at 4Earth Farms in Los Angeles
• Growers pack and sell by the count as opposed to the volume-fill method used in Washington
  • California suppliers ship 40-pound packs; Washington growers use 44-pound cartons
  • Due to this pack difference, California ships approximately 6 to 10 fewer pieces of fruit per unit compared to Washington

2017-2018 New Crop

• The Bartlett season is forecast to begin in mid-August
• D’Anjou production will start in late August
