Low temperatures and recent rain are affecting broccoli and cauliflower volume. Broccoli supplies will be tight through next week; expect rising prices. Cauliflower stocks are slowly increasing, but cool weather is limiting production. The market will be elevated for the next two weeks while supplies increase.

Broccoli

• Markon First Crop Broccoli Crowns are available (into South Texas and Yuma, Arizona); percentage of product loading in Yuma, Arizona is being shipped in Markon Best Available and packer labels due to low volume and quality problems
• Supplies will be limited through next week
• Cold West Coast weather has stunted growth and caused quality issues such as branchiness and discoloration, lowering yields
• Broccoli crowns from Northern Mexico are being packed when desert supplies are not available, but issues with labor and delayed border crossings are affecting arrivals
• Stocks from Central Mexico (into South Texas) will remain ample with good quality, adequate size, and deep color
• Prices are lowest in South Texas, but increased West Coast demand will push up the market
• Limited quantities are also available to load in Florida

Cauliflower

• Markon Essentials Cauliflower is available (into Yuma)
• Prices are inching down as supplies increase
• Cool weather in the desert is preventing prices from falling quickly
• Lower prices are available in Santa Maria, California, but quality issues include discoloration and ricey texture from recent rain
• Limited quantities are also available from Mexico (into South Texas)
