Bell pepper, cucumber, and squash production continues to transition south to the winter growing regions in Florida and Mexico. Sporadic rain on the California coast will bring some harvests to an early end. East Coast production in Georgia and Florida remains on track despite heavy rains from Hurricane Matthew.

East Coast

• Markon First Crop (MFC) Green Bell Peppers, Cucumbers, and Squash are available in Georgia and Florida
• Fall production will wind down in Georgia in two weeks
• Cucumber and squash harvests have started in Central Florida
• Bell pepper production will follow in two weeks  
• East Coast stocks are adequate; the market will remain stable as harvesting increases in Florida
• Although Hurricane Matthew brought heavy rainfall to the southeastern growing regions, production remains largely unaffected
• A smooth transition is expected
• Quality is good
• Stocks are ample

West Coast

• MFC Green and Red Bell Peppers are available in California
• MFC Green Bell Peppers from Mexico will be available in two to three weeks, followed by red and yellow supplies in mid-December
• Green bell pepper stocks are ample on both coasts; expect markets to remain low as Mexican supplies (into Nogales, Arizona and South Texas) ramp up
• Red and yellow bell peppers will remain tight; expect elevated prices until Mexican production starts (loading in Nogales and South Texas)
• Cucumber and squash supplies are available from Mexico; the California squash season will finish over the next 10 days
• MFC Cucumbers will increase in Mexico by mid-November
