UPDATE: BELL PEPPERS

The green bell pepper market is falling; Florida weather is slowing harvest but supplies are ample in Mexico and California. Red bell pepper prices are active this week due to strong demand.
Green Bells
- Markon First Crop (MFC) and Markon Essentials (ESS) Green Bell Peppers are available

Mexico has ample stocks
- New crop Sonora production has begun
- Medium sizes dominate stocks
- Florida is seeing lower volume this week due to rain; muddy fields are delaying harvests
- California inventories are increasing and set to replace the bulk of West Coast supplies within two weeks; medium sizes are scarce
- Expect lower markets for this week
- Quality is excellent
Red Bells
- MFC and ESS Red Bell Peppers are limited; packer label is being substituted as needed
- Mexican production has dropped slightly as many growers harvested red pepper crops for the last two weeks and sold them on the high-priced green bell market

California’s Coachella Valley season is three to four weeks away
- Peppers are near maturity and of excellent quality
- Higher temperatures are needed to start the coloring process
- Canadian greenhouse growers are expecting lighter yields over the next two weeks further increasing demand in Mexico
- Prices are high
- Quality is good
