Update: California Citrus

The San Joaquin Valley (California’s primary citrus growing region) will receive another series of rain events starting Thursday, February 16 that will run through Wednesday, February 22. Rainfall totals are forecast to be in the range of two to three inches. Growers will face extreme production delays and may even have to cancel harvests through Saturday, February 25, until groves have dried out.
- Markon First Crop and Markon Essentials Lemons and Oranges are sporadic; packer label is being substituted as needed to fill orders
- Orange supplies are extremely limited, especially 113-count and smaller sizes
- Flexibility on size, grade, and variety may be needed for order coverage
- Lemon stocks are also tightening; however, weak winter demand and multiple harvests in California allow for greater flexibility
- The market is rising; expect higher prices over the next few weeks
