Rain is forecast for the California and Florida strawberry growing regions. Florida storms are expected Saturday and Sunday, while California will receive rain Monday and/or Tuesday. Demand is strong and supplies are tight on both coasts. Prices will remain high through Valentine’s Day. Markon First Crop Strawberries are available; Markon Best Available Strawberries are being substituted as needed.

• The Plant City, Florida growing region is expected to receive upwards of 0.50 inch of rain this weekend

o Supplies are limited and will further decrease due to the rain

o Bruising and water damage will be quality problems

• Coachella and Oxnard, California are expected to receive between 0.15 and 0.30 inches of rain

o Stocks are tight

o Growers will pack ahead of schedule as much as possible

o Bruising and light water damage are predicted
