UPDATE: TROPICAL STORM ETA

Hurricane Eta weakened to a Tropical Storm as it made landfall on the West Coast of Florida early Thursday morning. Eta is pulling away from Florida, tracking northeast towards the Atlantic Ocean. Storm warnings have been lifted in Central Florida. Rain will continue to impact portions of the Florida Peninsula today.

  • Central Florida growers have reported over seven inches of rain, while South Florida crops have experienced over nine inches of rain
  • Some suppliers will not be able to assess the damage until fields dry out by mid- to late next week
  • Expect limited availability; harvesting has been curtailed due to wet fields
  • Markon recommends moving cucumber, squash, and eggplant orders to South Texas, Arizona, or California
