UPDATE: TROPICAL STORM ETA

November 10, 2020

Tropical Storm Eta has brought heavy rains to Southern Florida. Wet weather will persist throughout the week along the coast of Western Florida. The storm is expected to weaken to a depression by the time it makes landfall on the coast of the Alabama/Florida border on Saturday, November 14 or Sunday, November 15. The storm will slow production and affect the quality of Florida-grown crops as harvesting is curtailed due to wet fields; growers will assess potential long-term impact once fields dry out (approximately five to seven days). Demand is shifting west; prices are rising in all areas.

Florida commodities that will be impacted:

  • Bell Peppers
  • Cucumbers
  • Squash
  • Eggplant
  • Round and Roma Tomatoes
  • Green Beans
  • Strawberries
