Tomato prices are rising. Hurricane Eta is expected to make landfall in the primary growing region of Florida on Thursday, November 12, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. Expect higher markets and extremely limited supplies for the foreseeable future.

  • Heavy rain and strong winds will persist in Florida’s growing regions of Ruskin and Palmetto through the end of the week
  • The Immokalee, Florida season is not underway yet
    • There are concerns of a possible supply gap in late December through January
    • Immokalee received heavy rain Monday, November 10, with some areas reporting five to nine inches
    • Growers are still assessing damages
  • Mexico crossings are light due to a cold front that is reducing yields
  • Expect tight stocks over the next six weeks
