UPDATE: Tomatoes
December 01, 2017
Tomato supplies remain very limited in both Florida and Mexico. Expect elevated prices through December.
- Florida round tomato production will remain at below-average levels through late December due to severe weather impacts this fall; extra-large sizes will be especially limited as growers move into their second and third picks
- Mexican-grown vine ripe supplies are scarce (into Arizona and Texas); winter production will ramp up by early January
- Mexican Roma volume is sufficient, but strong demand will push prices higher over the next two weeks
- Grape and cherry tomato supplies have increased; expect prices to decline over the next ten days
