Mature green production remains at below average levels in Florida. Heavy precipitation in August and September has reduced current crop yields, while cool night temperatures forecast this week will keep harvesting slow. Expect prices to remain elevated through late November as harvesting transitions south from Ruskin to Immokalee, Florida.

Mexican-grown Roma and vine-ripe supplies (into Nogales, Arizona and South Texas) are limited. Harvesting in mainland Mexico will transition from San Luis to Sinaloa over the next ten days. Stocks remain ample in Baja, Mexico (into San Diego, California); quality is good.

Mature Green Tomatoes

• Production in the Central Florida region of Ruskin/Palmetto continues to build; increased demand from the Western U.S. will keep the market firm at elevated levels
• Quality is good, but overall yields are below average
• The cool temperatures that are forecast for next week will slow growth; large sizes are especially limited
• California production has ended; round tomato demand has shifted to the East Coast
• Expect steady markets over the next two weeks; harvesting will start in Immokalee over the next 10 days increasing industry stocks 

Roma and Vine Ripe Tomatoes

• Supplies are ample in Baja, Mexico; prices are steady
• Very limited quantities are being harvested in the regions of Northern Mexico (into Nogales and South Texas)
• Recent rain in mainland Mexico has reduced yields
• Winter Roma production will start in mid-December in Mexico’s state of Culiacan
• Florida Roma production is steady at average levels
• Cool temperatures are forecast next week
• Extra-large sizes will be limited
• Cherry and grape tomato prices are inching up due to sporadic rain in Mexico; demand for Florida supplies is strong
