UPDATE: Tomatoes

Tomato prices are rising. Harvests in Ruskin, Florida and mainland Mexico are winding down. Supplies will ramp up in South Carolina and California’s Central Valley over the next two weeks.

 

East Coast

  • Harvesting in the Ruskin/Palmetto region of Florida will wind down over the next two weeks
  • Mature green production will transition north to South Carolina over the next 10 days
    • Large and medium size fruit is limited
    • Extra-large sizes will dominate stocks
    • Expect elevated prices for the next two weeks
  • Cherry, grape, and Roma supplies are adequate; these markets will remain stable over the next two weeks

West Coast

  • Mature green production will wrap up in Indio, California over the next 10 days; quality will remain high through the end of the season
  • San Joaquin Valley harvests will start over the next two weeks and continue through the summer
  • Cherry, grape, and Roma tomatoes supplies are ample in San Diego (from Baja, Mexico)
  • Cherry, grape, and vine ripe stocks from mainland Mexico (into Nogales, Arizona and South Texas) will remain on the market for the next two to three weeks
  • Roma supplies will remain available from Central Mexico (into South Texas) through the summer
