Broccoli
- Warm, humid conditions in the Salinas and Santa Maria, California growing regions have resulted in quality issues that are reducing yields
- Markets are expected to remain elevated over the next several weeks
California Strawberries
Salinas/Watsonville
- As the season winds down, high temperatures and humidity have decreased berry size and diminished quality
- Yields are low as crews must strip soft-textured or decayed, poor-quality fruit
Santa Maria
- Volume is increasing after a period of high temperatures
- Cooler weather in the forecast will encourage growth and increase size
- Orders will be moved to this region for optimal quality and shelf-life
Lettuce and Leafy Greens
- Above-normal temperatures and humid conditions continue to diminish volume
- Quality concerns are reducing iceberg and leafy greens yields; processors have begun purchasing additional fields to meet demand
- Local regional programs along the East Coast will wrap up in the coming weeks, moving demand to the West Coast
