Bell Peppers

West Coast stocks are winding down in Mexico, while California production is ramping up slowly
Expect a harvesting gap on the East Coast as the Florida season is winding down and Georgia harvesting is a few weeks away
Supplies are tightening
Prices are on the rise

Broccoli

Markon First Crop (MFC) Broccoli Crowns are sporadic in Mexico (into South Texas) and available in Salinas, California
Overall quality is excellent; hollow core and yellow bead are sporadic
Supplies are tightening
Pricing will increase steadily this week

Cauliflower

Markon Essentials (ESS) Cauliflower is available in Salinas
Overall quality is excellent: creamy color remains an occasional cosmetic issue
Supplies are limited; many growers are unable to harvest as heads have not reached adequate size
Prices are increasing rapidly

California Oranges

MFC and ESS Navel Oranges are limited; packer label Navel and Valencia supplies are being substituted as needed
MFC Valencia Oranges will be available in mid-May when supplies increase
Stocks are dominated by large sizes (56- and 72-count fruit); smaller sizes (88-count and smaller) are extremely tight
Prices are rising

California Strawberries

MFC Strawberries are available out of Oxnard, Santa Maria, and Watsonville, California
Quality is good
Stocks are ample out of all three regions
Prices are easing as post-Mother’s Day demand decreases

Onions

Storage crop MFC Red and Yellow Onions from Idaho and Oregon will be depleted by the end of this week
In Washington, MFC Yellow Onions will remain available through the end of May, however MFC Red Onion supplies will end this week
California fresh-run MFC Red and Yellow Onions are readily available
Fresh-run, Texas-grown MFC Onions will run through the end of May
MFC Red and Yellow Onions from New Mexico will hit the market the week of May 21
